Pokemon GO Showcases: Which Pokemon to Keep (XXL)

PokéStop Showcases have one judge: size. The biggest Pokemon wins, which makes your XXL Pokemon worth keeping even when nothing else about them stands out. That's also why they're easy to lose in a cleanup. A Pokemon that looks ordinary on the appraisal screen goes into the transfer pile with everything else.

How Showcases are judged

Showcases are judged on size, and the biggest Pokemon wins. It's a different test from raids or PvP, so the Pokemon you'd keep for battling and the Pokemon that win Showcases aren't always the same ones.

The rules that matter for cleanup

Which Pokemon to keep

Keep your XXL Pokemon. This search finds every one you own: xxl

Before a Showcase, narrow it to the featured species or type with &, for example xxl&Magikarp or xxl&water.

XXS Pokemon can't win a Showcase, since the biggest always wins. Keep them only if you collect sizes: xxs

How POGO Cleanup protects them

POGO Cleanup's guided cleanup keeps XXL Pokemon by default. Its first tagging step includes xxl, so they're tagged before the final transfer search, which skips everything tagged, favorited or set as your buddy. Collectors can switch on XXS protection too, and the Collector and Hardcore presets turn it on for you.

Keep your Showcase entries out of the transfer pile

The guided cleanup tags your XXL Pokemon in the first step, then transfers only what's left untagged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transfer a Pokemon I've entered in a Showcase?

The game lets you, because entered Pokemon aren't locked. To be safe, keep it until the Showcase ends.

Do XXS Pokemon ever win a Showcase?

No. Showcases have always been judged on size and the biggest Pokemon wins, so XXS is never an advantage there.
